Cambelts

The cambelt (or timing belt) is one of the most important components of the engine. It controls the timing of the internal combustion engine by synchronising the camshaft and crankshaft as they rotate. Over time your cambelt wears down and can eventually snap – this can cause very serious and very costly damage to your engine. That’s why you should always get your cambelt replaced at the manufacturer’s recommended intervals – this tends to be around 60,000 miles but varies depending on your vehicle’s manufacturer.

If you’re not sure if your cambelt is due a change, you can take a look in your vehicle handbook and you should be able to find the correct replacement intervals for your vehicle. If you’re still unsure, get in touch with the experienced team at Keith Elgin Motor Engineers and we can advise. We have a team of skilled, trained technicians that can replace cambelts safely and efficiently at our well-equipped workshop in Edinburgh, at very competitive prices.
